Schuyler County Zero 2017 Fatalities

Schuyler County was one of three counties in 2017 that had zero fatalities in Missouri’s Northeast region, which covers seventeen counties. Schuyler was presented an award from the Northeast Coalition for Roadway Safety for their zero fatalities on Monday, January 29, 2018 during the Schuyler County Commissioners meeting at the Courthouse in Lancaster, Missouri.

The mission statement for the Coalition:

“The Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety is a partnership of safety advocates, who have banded together to attack the problem of traffic crashes and deaths. Missouri’s Blueprint – A Partnership Toward Zero Deaths – serves as a guide to reach the coalition’s continued goal of reducing traffic crashes to 700 or less by 2020. Zero fatalities is our ultimate goal – how can we accept anything else… ZERO.”

It’s a sad statistic to share, but the Coalition’s intent is to bring awareness and promote seat belt usage – it’s everyone’s best defense in any traffic crash.
